Northern Girl abducted in Colombo – 7.5million demanded as ransom

The daughter of a Jaffna merchant has been abducted in Colombo demanding 7.5 million ransom. The parents of the girl has complained in the police.

The girl who had gone to sit the GCE(A/L) for the second time, she went missing from Tuesday, it was reported to the Babpalapitiya police.

 Meanwhile an unidentified  person who had gone to the girl’s residence in Maipay and informed the house inmates that 7.5 million should be paid as ransom if the girl is to released, and had gone away in haste. A complaint had been  made with the Manipay police.

Police inquiries had revealed that the girl had not sat for the examination on the day she went missing.

Abduction complaint is being  inquired by Bambalapitiya police and the ransom demand is being inquired by Manipay police, said the SSP, Jaffna Stanislaus.

The father of the girl is working abroad and operates a travel business in Sri Lanka.Police is making inquiry in a view of looking beyond the ransom demand.
