It has been revealed in police inquiries that there is a deep link between the Military Intelligence  and the persons arrested in connection with the recovery of items including,  a 20 kg. Claymore and LTTE Flag etc., and. A complete report on the incident has been sent Ministry of Defence.

A total of 5 persons have been arrested in connection with the detection, it is reported. The Police searching an auto in a jungle area on Odduchuddan – Puthukudiyiruppu road, had recovered a 20 Kgs. Claymore, remote controls for it, LTTE’s Tiger Flags, and other ammunitions and arrested the Driver of the Auto. Two persons had escaped from the spot and were arrested later in the day at different places. 2 additional  persons were arrested yesterday , one of them being single handed.

It has been learned in the inquiries that few of them are former militants, few of them had maintained close contact with the Army Intelligence and one is said to be on the monthly pay roll of the Military Intelligence.

One suspect is running a vehicle repair shop in Puthukudiyiruppu. Another suspect had prepared a forged NIC for another of the suspects, with which a Bank Account had been opened, to which money had been sent from foreign countries. It was also revealed that the incident could have been “staged’ to put blame on important LTTE members that they had sent money and organized the bringing out the Ammunitions. This has been included in the Report to the Ministry, along with the information that  the arrested persons are having deep link with the Military Intelligence.

It  is notable that the MI had issued a red- warning that TNA MP, M.A. Sumanthiran is targeted. Neutral analysts say that this warning was a precursor to the Claymore Capturing incident.
