Parts of Fort at Pooneryn demolished for a one-day cultural event by Army

Parts of the Ancient and historical Fort of  Pooneryn at Vadiyadi Junction was demolished by the army for staging a one day cultural event, last Saturday.

This centuries-old Fort had been declared a heritage site by the Archaeological Department. The area people were shocked to see that the army which has the duty of preserving the historical monument destroying it.

They have expressed much concern over this and had demanded that at least in the future this historical sit should be preserved.
