People of Paravipanchchan go into their struggle again
The people of Paravipanchchan have gone into their struggle, for their lands, yesterday night, saying that the promise by the TNA Leader that the all lands of people occupied by the army released within two weeks had not been fulfilled.
The people of Paravipanchchan were engaged in continuous struggle insisting all the lands of Paravipanchchan people be released during the middle of last month. the Leader of the Opposition Sampanthan and other MPs came to Paravipanchchan , contacted the Defence Secretary over the phone and promised that the lands will be released in two weeks. Following this the abandoned their struggle.
Nothing happened as promised by the Leader of the opposition. The Army had only released 3 ½ acre land as decided earlier and that too had been released to the District Secretary and lands had not been handed over to the people.
The people engaged in the struggle said that 10 acre belonging to 15 families had to be released. We will continue our struggle until all the lands are released.
Meanwhile, the District Secretary, Suntharam Arumainayagam said yesterday at a meeting with Paravipanchchan people that, approval had been received to release further 3.5 acre and action is now being taken to identify the owners.
