Plan to settle 4,000 Army families at Iranaimadu

The attempt by former Secretary to Ministry of Defence, Gotabhaya Rajapakse to settle 4,000 Army families, South of Iranaimadu Tank was suspended after the regime change for some time now. Action is being taken to revive this attempt. This is a dangerous act, said Jaffna District TNA MP, S.Sritharan.

A high level committee of the TNA had met in Colombo and reviewed Northern Province related, Land disputes and planned Sinhala Colonization on yesterday, Tuesday. Sritharan said as above to the media while speaking to them after the meeting.

Former Defence Secretary  Gotabhaya Rajapakse attempted to create a Military settlement with 4,000 Army families using the pre-fabricated houses donated to the Army by Chinese Government. This attempt was curtailed due to the regime change. However, it had been pointed out in yesterday’s meeting that speedy action is being taken to revive this attempt. It had been requested in the meeting to prepare a document on this attempts with maps and other evidences.

In this context, he had pointed out that , this matter is a dangerous one and  genocidal activities of destroying the basic structures of Tamil people after the war is being continued  even now, and  had insisted that focused attention be paid on this matter.
