Police Anarchy in Mannar, attack Mother, daughter and son at home and police station

Police personnel under liquor had gone into a house in Vankalai Mannar and assaulted a mother and her daughter and later they have assaulted them at the police station when they went to lodge a complaint.  When the son came to inquire his mother and sister he was also assaulted and all three were arrested.

Illegal liquor was earlier sold in a house in Agnespuram, but after police action no liquor was sold there. However two policemen in Civil had entered the house on 17.04.2016 at 1.30 p.m. and had assaulted mercilessly a mother aged 44 and her daughter aged 16 while they were eating their lunch. Later when they went to the police station, the same officers had assaulted both inside the police station.

The daughter was injured but the police did not allow her to be taken to hospital. However after much pleading by the relatives they were allowed to take her to hospital. She was admitted to Vankalai Hospital first and later transferred to Mannar hospital.

Affected people had complained to Vanni MP, Sivasakthy Ananthan regarding the matter . The area people commented that even if some illegal this had happened in the house the police have no right to carry out such merciless assault on the mother and her child. This act should be condemned by all and that immediate legal action should be taken against the perpetrators.
