Pre-Fabricated housing project will start in two months: says Resettlement Minister

The Minister of Resettlement, D.M.Swaminathan had said that the pre-Fabricated housing project will be commenced within two months. Clarifying further he said, this contract had been given to Arceylon Mittal Company.

This contract will not be reviewed. Re-tendering also will not be done. The Local contractors are not capable of doing such a large contract. That is why the contract was given to Mittal Company. It a very large multi-National company .

This project is being undertaken with an intention of building 65,000 houses in two years. The Cabinet decided on the contract being given to this company. There is much doubt existing regarding whether the project could be completed within the period given by the Ministry and whether this could  be completed with locally available materials.

Preference will be given to people, affected by war, staying in transit camps, with special needs, families of missing persons and resettled families, he said.
