President should pay attention on the attacks on Muslims, resolution passed in NPC

In the context of Muslim places of worship being attacked in recent days, the Northern Provincial Council has adopted a resolution condemning the attacks on Muslim places of worship and calling the attention of the President Maithripala Sirisena on these attacks and insisting quick action against the perpetrators.

Member Sivajilingam proposed this resolution saying that, attacks are being made on the places worship of minority people in our country under every regime. Vilence is unleased against them. Our Muslim Members Asmin and Jawahir had expressed their concern over it.

The Sinhala rulers are keeping mum on these attacks and are not paying  any attention on them.

These attacks are continued for some hidden motivers. Hence the MaithriPala Sirisena Government should take proper action.

The Leader of the opposition Thavarasa said that, it is said that the attack on the muslims at Beruwala changed the Government.Hence the government should pay attention on recent attacks on Muslim places of worship and  as this is of public importance it should be adopted and sent to the president.

The attacks on minority races are being staged by Sinhala rulers from time to time, not tody or yesterday. They are being undertaken on the basis of a prioritry to Buddhist religion, said member Sarweswaran.

Finally the motion was seconded by a Sinhala member, Seneviratne .
