President promised to halt illegal Colonization through Mahaweli Authority, says the TNA

The Media spokesman for TNA and MP, Sumanthiran has said that the president had promised to the TNA to halt the illegal colonization through the Mahaweli Development Authority.

He has said so in a media Conference held yesterday in Jaffna.

In a meeting with the President before the No-confidence motion, Mawai Senathyrasa placed a request that the illegal colorization through Mahaweli Development Authority should be halted.

In this context, a meeting which was to be held on Mahaweli Development WAS CANCELLED ON Sampanthan’s intervention. Mahaweli water should come for our agriculture but not the Sinhala Colonies with it. We will continue to oppose that, he said.

Meanwhile the Members of the NPC have organized for a protest rally in front of Mullaitheevu District Secretariat in opposition to Sinhala Colonization through  Mahaweli Development.

Although the Government has promised several times that the colonization would be halted, it is being undertaken in full gear to date.
