President’s urgent call to Wigneswaran for discussions over land problems, meeting on 18th
president Maithripala Sirisena had invited urgently Northern Chief Minister, C.V.Wigneswaran to discuss about the land problems of the North. A meeting in this regard will be held on 18th, Monday.
In yesterday’s sitting of the NPC, the ruling party members raised heavy criticisms on the land acquisition attempts by armed forces.
The CM, in answer to these criticism said that, the President had called him for an urgent meeting on 18th in Colombo and that the Prime Minister will also participate in this meeting and he requested the members that if they will give him the details of land problems, it will be easier for him to discuss thing at this meeting.
Meanwhile action is being taken to acquire 108 places for the armed forces and as a precursor attempts are being made to survey the lands intended for acquisition and people are foiling these attempts mass demonstrations at the site. Further, a sit-in protest was staged day before yesterday and the president’s invitation had been interpreted as a consequent to these protests
