Problems of farmers of Mullai District- Human Rights Commission writes to the Governor
The agricultural activities of farmers of the Manthai East Division of Mulaitheevu , who had undertaken continuous agricultural activities in deeded lands and state lands have been suspended due to the inquiries undertaken by the Manthai East Divisional Secretariat land disputes.
In a context where their agricultural activities have been affected and their livelihood being lost, these farmers have sought the help of the Human Rights Commission, requesting that they be allowed to continue their agricultural activities until the inquiries into land disputes are completed.
Although these farmers were prevented from undertaking their activities, several other persons with deed to state lands have been allowed continue their activities, it is learned.
Following the complaint, the Human Rights Commission has written a special letter to the Governor, NP.
