Protest against Maithripala continues for a second day in London
UK Tamils continued their protest second day on Thursday against the visit of Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena opposite the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
Protesters carried banners, and chanted slogans against Maithripala Sirisena, who is attending the Anti-Corruption Summit on the invitation of British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Protesters accused that Sri Lanka’s President who was a defence minister in Mahinda Rajapakse’s Genocidal government responsible for the killing of over 70,000 innocent Tamil civilians in just over 5 months in 2009. They condemned that victims and survivors have not received any justice for 7 years, and perpetrators were not brought to justice due to the lack of accountability exercised by the Sri Lankan governments.
The protest was organised by the British Tamils Forum.
