Protest demonstration in Jaffna to find missing

The relatives of the people who had gone missing staged a heart melting protest demonstration in front of the Jaffna District Secretariat demanding the location of kins or to kill them also. It was a scene which could melt the hardest of the hearts.

This demonstration was organized by the Society of the relatives of the people arrested and subsequently gone missing in the North yesterday.

When they tried to hand over their memorandum, to the District Secretary, the Security guard at the District Secretariat refused entry into the District Secretariat. Despite his refusal, people entered the Secretariat and handed over their memorandum to the District Secretariat.

AS in earlier demonstrations the military and police as well as intelligence units’ presence was openly evident .NPC Member Ananthy Sasitharan and Vice president of the Valli North Pradeshiya Saba, S. Sajeevan and the president of the Movement for the people affected by War, V.Sahathevan were seen among the protesters.

The Northern Provincial Council  Governor received representatives of the Protester received the memorandum and consoled the protesters that he will inform the President and will hold further meetings with the protestors.

The Chief Minister also received the protesters, accepted their memorandum and consoled them saying they have taken up matter with the Central Government and requested them to wait for some more time.
