Ranil behind Reduction of MPs : Accuses Mano Ganeshan

The Leader of Democratic People’s Front, Mano Ganeshan said that reducing the number of seats in the 20th amendment to the Constitution is the Plan of the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremasinghe.

He was speaking in media conference held in Colombo yesterday.

He said that the Democratic People’s Front  is rejecting outright the position that the new parliament will consists of 225 seats, with 125 seats and 75 on District proportion 25 on National Proportion. The numbers said until Monday morning were different he further said.

Elaborating further he said, that he had demanded that Nuwara Eliya be allocated 4 seats and multi-member seats are needed for the Tamils and Muslims living in Colombo, Badulla, Kandy and Ratnapura.

Although it was stated during noon that the number of seats will be 255, it had dropped to 225 by evening, he said. This is a plan of the Prime Minister, and that he had protested it already,  said  Mano Ganeshan.
