Released land re-grabbed by the police

An accusation has risen that the Police had refused the use of lands released for people at Kankesanthurai erecting fences around people’s land.

While we were clearing our lands, police came in and asked us to get out. They also threatened us that if we stay they will arrest us.

201 acres lands were released by the Secretary to Defense Ministry at Vali North. The KKS Main road up to ‘Thal Sevena’ was released for people use.  Although the army vacated their position Police did not release 59 acre they were occupying even though alternate land had been given, by District Secretariat.

Now the police had fenced off people’s Land including two roads for which District Secretariat had called for Tenders for renovation of the roads.
