Renovated Pongu Thamizh memorial tower declared open yesterday at University of Jaffna
The Pongu Thamizh memorial plaque renovated by the students of the University of Jaffna in the form of a Memorial tower was declared open by the VC of the University, E.Wigneswaran yesterday.
The Plaque with the Pongu Thamizh declaration that the Aspirations of the Tamil people, Right of self determination, Traditional home lands, and Tamil Nationalism should be acknowledged was opened on 17th January 2010, in memory of the grand “Pongu Thamizh” event held by the Students of the Jaffna University.
The student had undertook the task of renovating the memorial in a Tower form, in the past days. The event for opening the renovated tower was presided by the president of the Students’ Federation.
Several people including the Registrar, Lecturers, staff, students and the public participated in the event.
