Request of the Chief Minister of NPC regarding the Genocide Resolution
The Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council, Justice C.V. Wigneswaran has requested all Tamil people around the world, to disseminate the interpretation of the Genocide Resolution, worldwide and relate the past and present problems of the Tamil people, and do the needful to create a better political change.
“This Time period of our voyage is a respite. We have documented what happened to date. We anticipate that, the things to happen be better. For this Sinhalese masses should support us. At least now the Sinhalese people should oppose treating Tamil people in an inhuman way” He said.
He extended this request when The Tamil Diplomat asked for his reflections, in the context of worldwide Tamil people, expressing happiness and praise regarding the Resolution adopted by the NPC and what the Chief Minister expect from them, in an exclusive interview.
Further he said,
” I know very well our Resolution had gained much popularity among the worldwide Tamil people. I could feel that, both the people, who had migrated from Sri Lanka, the people who had migrated from South India and the people of South India have welcomed our Resolution.
Our brethren who had migrated from Sri Lanka, due to particular reasons, and during particular time periods cited in our Resolution and who had migrated from South India, had understood the tribulations of the Tamil people because of their umbilical- cord- relationship, have welcomed our Resolution. People of South India and its political leaders, have welcomed this Resolution. It could be seen from this, that, all the Tamil people living worldwide, have united in welcoming the revelation of tribulations suffered by Tamil people for many years, now. I express my gratitude, to all of them, from the bottom of my heart.
I could not forecast what action will be taken in Geneva, regarding the Resolution. But the Tamil people living worldwide, I think, should place this resolution at the core and disseminate its interpretations all around the world.
May be many people are not aware of what has happened to Tamil people in Sri Lanka. It should be presented to them. Many of the Sinhala people are also not aware of it. That is why I have asked some people to translate the resolution into Sinhala Language. When the translation works are over, Sinhala people will be informed of it. This Resolution is not against the Sinhala people. This is a document revealing the way that, the Sinhala political leaders, selfishly conducted themselves so far.
This time period of our voyage is a respite. We have documented what happened to date. We anticipate that, the things to happen be better. For this, Sinhalese masses should support us. At least now the Sinhalese people should oppose treating Tamil people in an inhuman way.
Our Tamil brethren living around the world the world, should do everything possible, to create a good political change. They should express our problems in the world arena. Our Tamil brethren all over the world! Please, relate the past and present problems of the Tamil people, and do the needful to create a better political change in the future.”
