Resettlement Ministry not performed their due functions: accuses Sampanthan

The Leader of the TNA and the Leader of opposition, Sampanthan has accused the Ministry of Resettlement that it had not performed their due function in constructing houses for the people affected in war.

Hence it is the duty of the government to provided houses for such people, he had said.

The foundation laying ceremony for the houses to be provided to people settled at the Kappalthurai was held yesterday.24 persons had been selected from all three races, who had married within the last 5 years from the Divisional Secretariat area of Trincomalee and suburbs .Each one of them are granted 20 perches land and a easy payment loan of Rs.500,000/=Housing and construction Minister Sajith Premadasa laid the foundation stone and opened the Memorial sign board.

The Leader of the Opposition Era Sampanthan, Eastern CM, Naseer Ahmed, EPC Minister of Lands, Ariyawathy Galapathy, MP, Imran Mahroof also participated in the event and laid foundation stones.

Further 80 persons who had been trained in Building  work were handed over with masonry equipment by Minister Premadasa. Speaking in the event Sampanthan further said that the Government should build houses for people who are being resettled in their own lands from transit camps.
