Restrictions on travel to North for foreigners lifted forthwith

The restrictions that had been imposed by the last government on foreigners and foreign organizations travelling to North have been lifted forthwith. The said restriction required an MOD clearance prior to their travel to the North.

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the National Security Council presided by President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday.

“Since there is no war situation in the country and the life of the community is normal, it was decided to remove restrictions imposed on foreigners,” the MOD said in a statement.
