SarathWeerasekara is adamant in not granting devolution to Tamils, we cannot accept his position, says Wigneswaran
Jaffna District MP, C.V Wigneswaran has said that Minister Sarath Weerasekara is adamant in not granting devolution to Tamil people. The Tamil people will not accept his position.
Sarath Weerasekara had said in several places that the Provincial Council system is not necessary and should be eliminated.
Media men asked Wigneswaran to comment on this and he has said so in reply.
Elaborating further he said that, while Weerasekara is saying so, some other people in the Government are saying the PC elections will be held in March or April. So the government is saying like that and saying like this.
Sarath Weerasekara is of the opinion that no power devolution should be given to Tamil people, this country belongs to the Sinhalese and the minorities should be satisfied with what we are doling to them
Sinhalese have never lived in majority in the North and East. Sarath Weerasekara is expressing wrong ideas on wrong basis. He should keep in mind that by him saying so neither unity nor good relationship will be formed among the people of the country.
Hence his ideas cannot be accepted by the people in the North and East, he said.
