We searched for the missing they are not to be found, says President Maithripala Sirisena in Jaffna
President Maithripala Sirisena has washed his hands off with regard Missing persons, in a propaganda meeting held in Jaffna, by saying that “ We searched for the missing, but, they are not be found. People went missing during war time, not only in the North but several Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim people also in the South Seri Lanka. If it is necessary that, financial assistance be given to the parents, we are prepared do that.”
He said so while, speaking in the propaganda meeting of the SLFP in Jaffna.
Several people are telling me continuously me about people who have gone missing. Mothers and sisters of the missing persons had met me in Colombo and spoke to me. They told me that their relatives had been hidden in this country, particularly in Army Camps, police stations and in Forests.
As the government, we conducted searches for them. They are not to be found. I have nothing to hide and cover in this, he said.
