Sentiments flow for ” Chencholai students” Massacred 10 years back
10th commemoration events of the Chencholai students massacred in on 2006 August 14 by the Sri Lankan Air Force were held in Jaffna and Vavuniya Yesterday.
Thamizh Virudcham organization organized the event in Vavuniya while the TNPF organized in Jaffna.
61 female students lost their life in this merciless massacre.
The Commemoration was held in Jaffna in front of Muniyappar Temple. 61 figures representing the massacred students with their names on them were placed in a line and Religious dignitaries and relatives of the students stood in front of them in commemoration of their memories. Memorial orations were also delivered.
The president of TNPF, Kajendrakumar, S. Kajendran Padmini Sithamparanathan took part in this event along with NPC Minister, P.Ainkaranesan and member M.K.Sivagilinkam .
Reconciliation is not possible without delivering justice for massacres like these, if real peace is needed, justice should be delivered for thousands we have lost, said, Rev.Fr. Mangalarajah, from the Organization for Peace and Justice.
Lot of tourists who came to see the Dutch Fort, recorded this event also in their video a still cameras.
The commemoration event at Vavuniya was held by Virudcham Organization at Vairavar Puliyankulam Vairavar Temple, with religious observations.
