Severe Drought claiming lives of rare Ponies in Neduntheevu: So far 10 ponies succumbed to heat

Cattle in Neduntheevu (Delft) are being subjected to severe effects of extended drought and especially the ponies are dying without proper care, said the area people. Ponies are found only in Neduntheevu. Tourist come here to watch them. Relevant officers does not take any interest in them. No action had been taken to save the ponies from extinction.

Without grass and water the horses are dying on a daily basis. Although, the Divisional Secretariat had been informed about the deaths of Horses, no action had been taken.

When contacted the Neduntheevu, Divisional Secretary, he said that with all our difficulties, we are supplying water at least every other day. The Wild life Department should some take some action to save these ponies.
