Solution first , then reconciliation, CM insists with EU Representative
In a context of more than 100,000 soldiers stationed in the North, Reconciliation could be established only after solving the problems of the Tamils Politically, the Northern Province Chief Minister, C.V.Wigneswaran has insisted with the Coordination Representative of EU.
A meeting between the CM, C.V.Wigneswaran and the Coordinating Representative of EU, Karasco Munask, was held at the CM’s Secretariat, yesterday. He told the media as above after the meeting.
Commenting further he said, The Coordinating Representative had come here to study about the Peace efforts taken by the Sri Lankan Government and to find out how could, the International Nations help us.
I clarified to him that, although the GOSL is taking several actions to create understanding and Reconciliation, they are doing it unilaterally without consulting us.
A basic environment should prevail here to establish peace among the two races. That environment is not prevailing here. For example, in South Africa, the Commission for truth and reconciliation was established. If it is done this way, people also will provide their full cooperation, but, that kind of environment is not prevailing here, I said.
I also said we need a federal solution, said the CM.
