If the solution is not found locally, Pressure from International Community will increase: warns Sampanthan
The Leader of the Opposition and the Leader of the TNA, Era Sampanthan warned the Government that if the National problem is not solved locally, increase of pressure by International Community cannot be avoided.
He expressed this warning in a tough tone, speaking on the third day of debates on the Interim Report of the Guidance Committee on the Drafting of the new Constitution.
Speaking further he said that, the highest law of the Country, the Constitution has to be drafted with the contributions of all factions. It should be able to ensure the rights of everyone. Although attempts were made to solve National problem for 25 years, no solution was arrived at, as the no consensus was reached between the two National Parties. The greatest blockade of war is not present now.
It is important that it should be remembered that our activities are being observed by the countries of the world. Democracy should be the upper most in the country. Administrative structures should be constituted in accordance with this. The democracy of all should be improved.
We are supporting the Government on the basis of all these. We wish that the pressure of the International Community should cease. We wish our problem should be solved locally. If the problem is not solved locally, the world pressure will increase.
National consensus is necessary on common matters. Our anticipation is that the new Constitution should be prepared with maximum consensus that is possible, he said.
