Sweden Minister accepted the Federal System, says CM, C.V.Wigneswaran
The Foreign Minister of Sweden, Marcot Walsdock had accepted our calling for a federal solution the New Constitution to be adopted for the country, as reasonable, said the CM after meeting her yesterday.
A delegation led by the Foreign Minister made a visit to the North yesterday and met the CM yesterday. The CM speaking to the media after the meeting said as above. High Commission for Sweden is not established in Sri Lanka. She coming here is a great honour to us, he said.
She told me that, as Sri Lanka is a country with medium Income they are unable to do any help. But I told her that the North and East are affected by war and the must help us. Their determination is that it will take time for the people to get back into their routine life, to which I have said that, we are waiting for that time but we are unable to get the justice due to us, he said.
She asked about what sort of solution we are expecting in the constitution and I said that we have proposed federal system after consulting two Swizz experts. When she said that it seems that the southern leaders are not in favour of Federal System, I explained to her that they are thinking of Federal system as a separation and this is causing the dispute.
