Tamils and Muslims unite for devolution of power, both sides announce on the same stage in the east.
Minister Raub Hakeem and TNA spokesman M.A.Sumanthiran yesterday declared on the same stage in the East that the TNA and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress have united in creating a new constitution and getting the Power Devolution through that. Further they said that the Tamil and Muslim people are united in offering their full support to make the power devolution a meaningful one.
The full day workshop on the new Constitution organized by the SLMC was held at the East Lagoon Hotel, Batticaloa yesterday.
Speaking there the spokesman of the TNA, MP, M.A.Sumanthiran said that the TNA and the SLMC are united in their stances regarding the Power should be devolved meaningfully and regarding the new Constitution. This stance will bring victory both to Tamils and Muslims
Tamils were excluded in both the constitutions made in Sri Lanka, and this caused the war. Although, It is democracy to say that the majority should rule, but it cannot be chauvinist rule.
A meaningful solution will be to eliminate unitary Government and Executive Presidency and granting a power Devolution under Federal System.
