The CID allowed to detain Vidya’s murder suspects under PTA
In a spectacular deviation from procedure, The Kayts courts allowed the CID to detain the suspects for 30 days and proceed with inquiries under the notorious Prevention Terrorism Act (PTA).The president had already granted permission for this deviation. The CID took over the suspects from prison officials.
testimonies were recorded from 7 persons yester . The mother and brother fainted after recording their evidence and were given first aid.
No Attorney appeared for the accused and the court advised them that they could use the services of Attorneys. Attorneys at Law, K.V.Thavarajah, K.Sukash, Mrs. Vijayaranee Satheeskumar, T. Janakan and S.Ambiga appeared on behalf of the affected student. Few Attorneys from the south were present to observe the court proceeding.
