The Sri Lankan Government had rejected a resolution passed by the NPC stating that a genocide had taken place in Sri Lanka.
As a Government it cannot accept that a genocide had taken place in Sri Lanka, said the Cabinet spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senarathne.
He further stated that everybody know that the Sri Lankan Army saved lot of Tamil people.
Even if some persons had committed some atrocities at that time they cannot be termed as genocide, he says.
Saying that, Wigneswaran who is the Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council and a former Supreme court judge, knows very well the meaning of the word ‘Genocide’ , Minister Rajitha Senarathne, queried on how the Chief Minister, who could not accept the same resolution, when it tabled last time, could accept it now ?
