Trial at Bar for Vidya to hold continuous hearing from June 28th
The Trial at Bar constituted for Pungudutheevu Student Vidya’s case will start its continuous trial on June 28th. High Court Judge Balendran Sasi Mahendral will lead the Trial at Bar, in which Annalingam Premasangar and Manickavasagam Illancheliyan are the other members.
When the court sat yesterday, Deputy Solicitor General S.Kumararatnam and state counsel Nagaratnam Nishanth appeared for the prosecution.
Anuradhapura Prison Officials produced 9 suspects. Only , AAL Arumugam Ragupathy appeaqred for the 5th suspect. Although it was said that, AAL Sarath Valgamage will appear for the 4th , 7th and 9th suspect he was not present in the court. 4th accused said that no AAL is prepared to appear for them. Court adjourned for 15 minutes for the accused to find AALs.
When the court resumed, AAL Sinnarasa Ketheeswaran appeared for 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and AAL Arumugam Ragupathy appeared for 2nd , 3rd ,5th AAL Jayantha appointed by the court to appear on behalf of all 9 suspect and AAL K.Ranjithkumar appeared on behalf of the affected.
41 charges were handed over to the accused and all accused pleaded ‘not guilty’.
The court announced that the trial will be continuous for 6 days from June 28th and instructed the 37 witness to be present for the trial dates.
