Two accused in the Katchchai murder case was sentenced to death by Justice Illancheliyan
Jaffna Court of Appeal judge , Justice Illanchcheliyan sentenced two persons accused of murdering one Chelliya Ponnurasa in Kachchai area in Chavakachcheri, to death today.
Sivapalu Krishnakumar and Suntharalingam Senthilkumar were the accused who were sentenced to death. Attorney at Law Mrs. Nalini Subaharan, directed the witnesses of the Prosecution.
The witnesses of the Prosecution, Nagapoopathy, the wife of the diseased and the son of the diseased Ketheeswaran said that the murder was done in 5 minutes.
“ When the accused came to the door of the house after attacking my father in the hut , I saw a knife in the hands of Krishnakumar, ithe 1st accused and a club in the hands of 2nd accused, Senthilkumar, when they saw me they fled the scene. ”, testified Ketheeswaran, the son of the diseased.
When she heard the noise and ran out she saw both accused running towards the gate from the hut and that she saw something like an iron rod in the hands of one of them, testified Nagapoopathy, the wife of the diseased.
Nobody testified on behalf of the accused. They testified standing in accused’s Dock.
