Unable to control Forest Department Officials, District Secretary, Mullaitheevu confide with CM, NPC

The Northern Provincial Council Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran said yesterday in the House that, the Mullaitheevu District Secretary had confided with him with sadness that, even she is unable to control some Central Government officials(Forest Department) . The activities of Forest Department and the continuing de-foresting in Mullaitheevu came under heavy condemnation in the house.

The CM further said that, he had called for further details from DS, Mullaitheevu and that he will submit all details in the house once he receives them. He also said that, the Government is appointing  non-Northerners  who do not care for the natural Resources of the North.

Mullaitheevu Member of NPC, K.Sivanesan said that the 5 acre land which is the symbol of victory of  Pandara Vanniyan had also been lost. Katpoorapulvelli had been  made a property of a single Mudalali and the de-foresting is still continuing.He further said this de-foresting and resettlement of Muslim people should not be treated alike.
