Writs of Application filed on behalf of fasting TPPs
Three writs of Applications have been filed on behalf of each of the fasting Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs), in the Appeal court, asking their cases be conducted in the Vavuniya Court. AALs, Chandralal, Aroos and Sunil have filed these writ applications, on behalf of TPPs, Sulaxan, Tharsan and Thiruvarul respectively.
Attorneys General, Jayantha Jayasooriya has been cited as the Respondent. It is expected that these applications will be taken up for trial on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Anuradhapura prison authorities have asked the fasting TPPs to give their decision on giving up the fast today morning and have warned that if they decide to continue their fasting, they will be transferred to Magazine prison.
The TPPs are on their fast from 25th Last month. On the 22nd of this month they were forcefully admitted to A’pura General Hospital. 7 salines , jeevany and vitamin pills were administered to them there. On the following day they were produced suddenly. The state counsel had stated that if they were on fasting for 30 days, they would not be in this place.
One TPP has said that 27 salines were administered to each of us during our struggle. If they have not done that, we would have been in the place sir (State Counsel) had told, retorted the TPP. After case they were admitted A’pura Hospital, later transferred to prison hospital, and still later transferred to their usual cells.
The AG had said that the witnesses had stated that they will not testify in Tamil area courts. But the relatives say that what the AG telling is a lie as two of the three witnesses are LTTE members who had gone out of the country illegally and how could they come back to testify.
